Hitler’s Skull Actually Belongs to Female

On September 30, 2009, scientist at the University of Connecticut discovered that what Russian officials claimed to be Hitler’s skull actually came from a woman. Nick Bellantoni, who was asked to examine Adolf Hitler’s skull fragment and the bloodstains from where Hitler committed suicide for a history channel documentary, was the first to notice that something was wrong with so-called Hitler’s skull. Bellantoni took the skull back to the University of Connecticut where it was determined by Linda Strausbaugh, Craig O’Connor, and Heather Nelson (all experts in working with DNA) that the skull was indeed a 20 to 40 year old woman’s. The scientists believe it could be Eva Braun, Hitler’s wife, but have no proof or way to find evidence. Also, it is unlikely that it is Braun’s because there is no record of her being shot in the head and there is a clear bullet hole in the skull. Though an alleged autopsy after Hitler’s suicide shows that he is missing part of his cranium, this skull is clearly not his. The question is, whose skull is it if it’s not Braun’s?

This is really interesting! Who would have thought that such a ruthless man's alleged skull would really be a female's? I wonder who's skull it actually is...

Wow. This find leads to so many other questions. I can't wait to find follow up articles on this.

How did they not realize that the skull was not male after that long? It will be very interesting when they discover who's skull that really was.

It is funny that the Russians who invaded Berlin faked his skull, it was probably just the Russians trying to prove that Hitler was killed... You'd think at least they could get the right skull!

Whoa, that changed my whole perspective do we know where is real skull is though?

Whoa,, I had no idea something like that could happen. It kinda changed my whole perspective on history. Do you know if they know where the real skull is?

Wow that was a really surprising article. The original article was really good and went in depth on the discovery of the wrong skull. I think your post could have been improved if you went in depth more. But overall the post was intreating and really caught my attention.

thanks Shannon, it was a very interesting post. i have only one question. how was the woman's skull mistaken for hitler's in the first place? i would thing historians and scientist would double check their work.

I thought that this post was very interesting. Everything that historians know about Hitler may very well change.

Whoa, that's odd.

So where's the real remains then? If Russian officials claimed it was Hitler's, then would they have already known that it was a fraud and this is all one big conspiracy?

Nah, I don't think that would happen, but still very weird.

Sorry, I forgot to mention...
The Russian officials saw that hitler was missing part of his cranium in an autopsy after his death where he had shot himself in the head. So when they were searching through the bunker in the aftermath, they discovered part of a skull with a bullet whole in it and assumed that it was Hitler's without doing any DNA tests.

Its almost like a mystery from a T.V show or something! Thats very intriguing how after having the skull for so many years they're just now realizing that it's actually a woman's. It's interesting to think of where Hitler's skull is located today and if they'll ever find it.

Wow! Shannon this is really amazing. I can't believe that the skull everyone thought was Hitler's might be a female's skull. This is really interesting.

When I heard about this a though, "Wow...so much of history has to rewritten" and after reading this I had the same thought again. It makes you wonder how much else do we get wrong...?
Even if the skull was only a partial, they should have been able to tell that it was female...fail.
For all that we know, Hitler could have lived to ripe old age laughing at everyone.
