WWII Veteran Donates Book Belonging to Hitler

WWII was drawing to a close, and a number of United States soldiers invaded Hitler's home in Berchtesgaden, Germany to celebrate an almost certain victory. Among them is 23-year-old John Pistone, who grabbed a thick book filled with pictures of paintings from a shelf. It is now the present, 64 years later, and Pistone is finally relinquishing his hold on this precious artifact.

The 3-inch thick, 12 pound book sat on his bookshelf for many years until a friend questioned what it is. After extensive research, the friend discovered that it could be an important relic, as the Monument's Men Foundation in Dallas had been searching for similar pictures in Germany for the past several years. Pistone offered the book to the Foundation, and after inspection, was notified that it was of true authenticity and great value. The book is part of series of books, all containing photographs of paintings. These book were logs of the paintings Hitle planned to place in his museum, Fuhrermuseum, in Linz, Germany.

The album will be returned to its homeplace through an official ceremony with Germany taking place in January. Before it makes another journey across the pond, however, it will be displayed for three months at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.

Wow, Hitler was going to open a Museum? I never would have guessed that Hitler was into art.
